Legal
Terms
These terms apply to the public pages of Thoughtsfromhere. They are written for a personal blog. Last revised 18 February 2026.
Who these terms are for
If you read this site, quote it, or write to me, these terms are for you. They are not a contract for a paid service. There is no paid service. They are the conditions under which I keep the pages public and under which I will read a letter. If you cannot accept them, you are free to close the tab. I will not chase you.
Thoughtsfromhere is written from Canada and the public address is in Toronto. I am not going to dress that fact up as a choice of law lecture. If a dispute ever needed a forum, it would be the ordinary courts that already cover a person writing from this address. I hope we never need that sentence.
Copyright and quoting
The words on this site belong to Thoughtsfromhere. You may quote up to 150 words from a page, and you must link back to the page you quoted. You may not publish a full essay elsewhere, strip the name, or present the text as if it were your reporting. You may not feed the pages into a product that reprints them as a finished article.
If you want to use more than a short quotation, write to [email protected] and wait for a clear yes. A missing reply is not permission. I reply on business days. Photographs on the site are used under the terms that came with them and are not mine to pass along as a pack.
Personal opinion, not counsel
Everything here is personal opinion and personal recollection. It is not professional advice in law, medicine, engineering, or any other licensed field. I do not have a licence that covers the subjects I am describing, and I do not want the tone of a person who does. If you need counsel, you will have to find a person who is actually allowed to give it.
The blog is also not a news service. I do not report an investigation of my own. I do not name companies or officials as authors of that week. If you treat a sentence here as a finding you can act on in a public way, you are asking the sentence to do work I did not hire it to do.
Accuracy
I work from notes and from memory. Both can be wrong. I mark dates of changes when I correct a line, and I last reviewed the public text on 18 February 2026. I do not promise that a page is complete, current, or free of gaps. The gaps are part of the record. A sentence that begins “as I understood it at the time” is a limit, not a decoration.
If you find an error, write to me. I will change what I can stand behind changing. I will not guarantee that the site will always match the version you remember from a previous visit, because a correction can move a line.
How we speak to each other
Write in good faith. Do not send another person’s private details. Do not send threats, and do not send a letter whose only job is to abuse a household you have decided is to blame. I will not answer that letter, and I will not keep it longer than I need in order to recognize a repeat.
I will not publish your message unless you have asked me to in a sentence that is hard to misread. I will not invent a reader to quote. If a conversation becomes a correction on a page, I will mark the date and I will keep your name off the page unless you have asked for it to be there.
Changes to these pages
I may change a public page, including this one, when the writing needs it. I date material changes. The last revision of these terms is 18 February 2026. If you have a bookmarked paragraph, read the live page before you treat the paragraph as current. Continued reading after a dated change is how I understand your acceptance of the new wording.
If a change is a correction to a fact I got wrong, I will say so on the page that held the fact. That practice is also described on the about page.
